The production V8 Vantage was introduced at the Geneva motor show in 2005 for the 2006 model year. The two-seat, two-door coupe had a bonded aluminium structure for strength and lightness and with the 4.3 V8 power delivery, created an instant hit with the motoring press and excited new owners, however, the introduction also gave Porsche a few worries. These are seen as great drivers’ cars, but still, with the advantages of a relaxed driving position and of course the characteristic Aston Martin flair. In 2016 Aston Martin announced that the Vantage V12S would become available with a 7-speed dog-leg gearbox, this was to offer the purest of Aston Martin drivers the opportunity to own, for one last time a manual V12 Vantage before the company would downsize to the 4.0L all-automatic Vantages from mid-2018 onwards. The old chalk of manuals being outdated could not be said about this new Vantage manual, with updated technology allowing for auto-blips on downshifts and full-throttle changes on upshifts creating a highly involving and exciting driving experience. With so few built and now available the manual V12 Vantage has already begun to enter into that special collectable circle with prospective buyers only wanting the very best example available.
This unique 'Q' build Aston Martin V12 Vantage S was one of the very last of what many see to be a proper classic Vantage to be built, coming off the production line and being registered in April 2018. Unique in terms of having the factory AMR performance upgrade mean that this V12 S comes with the same factory performance specification and enhancements as the Vantage AMR. The power output is increased to 595bhp over the standard 565bhp S, making this the most powerful road-going Vantage available, an accolade it shares with the track-focused GT12. The 0-60 time was cut by 0.2 seconds in the process down to an astounding 3.7 seconds. Further unique options on this example come with the Q Special Paint Finish, Gold Leaf Aston Martin Badges and the AMR Titanium Exhaust system making this truly one of a kind.
