Since 1954 Mercedes Benz Have Been Offering The Mercedes SL Model As Part Of Their Company Line-Up, With These Examples Being Viewed As A Truly Luxurious Convertible Driving Experience. In The September Of 2001 The German Car Maker Introduced The All New SL R230 Model At Both The Frankfurt & Bologna Motor Shows, Which Was To Replace The Much Loved R129 Model That Had Been Produced For Around For Near Twelve Years. This Fabulous New Offering Came With A New Sleek Body Design That Was Less Square Than The Previous Model, Improved Performance Figures, An Excellent Array Of More Up To Date Mercedes Benz Technology, Which Was Welcomed By The Worlds Press And Eager New Buyers. Like Many Other Great Mercedes Benz Cars Of The Past, The Line Up Was Always Going To Include The Top Line AMG Model, With The SL55 AMG To Be Fitted With The Monster 5.4 Litre V8 Engine, With Standard Factory Performance Figures Listed At 510 BHP. As Part Of The Company Options, You Could Also Opt For The Extremely Expensive Factory F1 Performance Pack Which Would Still Take The Driver And Passengers From 0-62 MPH In Just 4.5 Seconds, But Would Increase The Top Speed From 155 MPH To A Rather Impressive 186 MPH And With This Specification Costing Just Over £8500.00, But Due To This Massive Cost Option Many Clients Decided Against This, However This Has Now Meant For 2021 That These Now Rare F1 Performance Cars Are Viewed As Being The Ultimate AMG Modern Day Classic Vehicle, With Many Cars Being Acquired For Already Established Car Collections. To Remove The Limiter Off The Top Speed The Boys At The AMG Factory Also Had To Include An Additional Oil Cooler, Upgraded The Suspension To The Nürburgring Sports, Improved The Already Impressive Braking System, Revised The Front Spoiler With Additional Air Dams And Exchanged The Standard Alloy Wheels From 18" To 19".
